Your guide to home coffee roasters — how to roast on the one you have, and how to pick the next one. From budget-friendly poppers to prosumer drum roasters.
From the main menu, tap Roasting Equipment. The roaster database stays free after your 30-day trial, and covers home coffee roasters from $30 popcorn poppers to $3,000 prosumer drum roasters. In Craft mode this tile opens straight to the Roasting Guides; Journey and Science add the Overview, Deep Dive, and Equipment Advisor.
The Roasting Guides tab is the friendliest place to begin, and it's what Craft mode shows when you open Equipment. Read the fundamentals once — roast stages, first and second crack, what to watch, smell, and listen for, and safety — then the primer for your style of machine, a first-roast walkthrough, and a troubleshooter for when the cup tastes off. The guide for your specific roaster model (settings, maintenance, and upgrade tips) is part of RoastSource Home.
Start with the Overview for a curated look at roasters by budget tier: Entry Level (~$30–200), Intermediate (~$200–700), and Advanced / Prosumer (~$700–3,000). Each tier highlights the best options with key specs like batch size, heat type, and control level.
Switch to the Deep Dive view for detailed specifications on 16+ roaster models. Every profile covers: brand, model, roaster type (fluid-bed, drum, hybrid, stovetop), heat source, batch capacity range, temperature control options, probe support, and cooling method.
Browse multiple roasters in the same category to compare features. See which models support temperature probes, which have built-in cooling, and which offer the best capacity for your needs.
Not sure which roaster is right for you? The Equipment Advisor asks a few targeted questions: your experience level, current equipment, whether you're roasting for personal use or a cafe, your budget, and what features matter most (speed, control, batch size, etc.).
Based on your answers, the Advisor recommends specific roaster models tailored to your needs — with explanations of why each one fits. It's like having a knowledgeable friend at the coffee equipment shop.
Found your roaster? Head to Settings to create a roaster profile. The app pre-loads specs for 40+ models so setup takes seconds. Your profile is then available in the Roasting module every time you start a session.
Read the guide for your roaster, browse specs, compare models, and get a personalized recommendation in minutes.
The roaster database stays free after the trial. Per-model roasting guides are part of RoastSource Home.
